Jared Goodwin | Assistant Coach

Jared Goodwin enters his sixth year as Assistant Coach for the Missouri Baptist University Men’s Basketball team in the fall of 2017.

During his time at Missouri Baptist, Goodwin has seen three players earn All-American recognition, six players earn All-Conference recognition, and multiple players earn Academic All-Conference recognition including 14 in the last two seasons. In three of the last four seasons, the Men’s team has also been recognized as an NAIA Scholar Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Prior to his time at Missouri Baptist University, Goodwin spent one season as the Head Coach of the Christian Life Center Boys’ Varsity team in Humble, Texas while also assisting with the Post Grad team. During his time in Texas, Goodwin also worked with the AAU program Katy Shooting Stars, the same program that AMC Freshman of the Year in 2013-2014 Chris Buzzell played for.

Prior to his time in Texas, he spent two seasons in Florida working with his high school alma mater at Peniel Baptist Academy spending one year as an Assistant and one year as the Head Coach.

From 2005-2009 Goodwin spent two seasons each at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida and then at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas both whom are NCAA Division II schools.

Goodwin graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia where he worked with the Men’s Basketball program as a student manager for three seasons with his last year serving as the Head Manager of the team. During his time there, the team had a lot of success including winning the conference tournament in 2004 and advancing to the NCAA tournament. In 2005, Goodwin received his B.S. in Sport Management from Liberty University.

Goodwin married Missouri Baptist University Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Coach, Katie Cline in July of 2017.

Javis Flynn | Graduate Assistant Coach

The 2018-19 season is Javis Flynn’s first as an assistant coach for Missouri Baptist men’s basketball. The Watonga, Okla. is a 2016 graduate of Pittsburg State (Kan.) where he played two seasons for the Gorillas. In 2017-18, Flynn was a women’s basketball assistant coach at Carl Junction High School (Mo.). where Bulldogs went 23-3 and made the first state championship appearance in school history.
Collegiately, Flynn started all 29 games as a senior guard in the 2015-16 season for Pitt State, averaging eight points, five assists, and five rebounds per game. He was a two-time All-Defensive Team selection for the MIAA.
Prior to his time at Pitt State, Flynn attended Pratt Community College where he was named to the All-Conference Second Team for the Jayhawk Conference-West Division. He averaged eight points, four rebounds, and nine assists in his two seasons at Pratt.
Flynn attended Watonga High School and was a First Team All-District selection as a senior in 2012. He averaged 20 points, five rebounds, and seven assists per game. He was also an All-State selection as a wide receiver for the football team.
Javis will be working towards his Master’s degree in Sport Management at MBU.

Lanard Williams | Graduate Assistant Coach

Williams comes to us from the St. Louis area, where he attended Marquette High school. In his senior season, Lanard helped lead the Mustangs to their first district title, while ending his career as a Suburban West “All Conference Player”.

Williams attended the University Of Missouri-Columbia where he graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors in Sociology. While at Mizzou, he was a three year member of the University's Club Basketball team, serving as team president in his final season. During his time at MU, Williams also served as a practice player on the University's Women’s Basketball team.

In the fall of 2016, Williams made his way to Missouri Baptist after interning at the NAIA’s national office in the Men’s DI Basketball department. While working at the NAIA, Lanard was a part of the team that coordinated the 2016 Buffalo Funds Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament. He will be beginning the 2017 school year as the Spartan Men’s Basketball Operations, Graduate Assistant.

Derrick Dilworth | Graduate Assistant Coach

Derrick Dilworth enters his first year as Graduate Assistant Coach for the Spartans. Last year, he served as an assistant coach for Coach Jay Blossom at Webster Groves High School and helped lead the Statesmen to the Missouri Class 5 State Championship.

Dilworth finished a stellar playing career at AMC rival Columbia College, where he helped the Cougars to two AMC league titles, two AMC Tournament championships and a 67-4 two-year record. The 2012-13 team had a perfect regular season (33-0) and was ranked #1 in the country. Dilworth was a 2x All-American, 2x AMC 1st team and named AMC Newcomer of the year in 2013.

Prior to CC, Derrick played two years at Moberly Area Community College for Coach Jay Spoonhour. An All-State player at Webster Groves, he won the Suburban South Conference three years in a row, won the Class 5A State Championship in both basketball and as a quarterback Class 5A State Championship for football during his senior year.

Dilworth has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and resides in St. Louis.
